Level Control

Using Weight to Measure Level Measuring Level or Inventory by weight is the most accurate technology. The weight is not affected by ingredients that foam or settle unevenly, by changes in density or the shape of the tank. Weight is weight, regardless of percent solids, bridging, rat holing, or whether your ingredient is conductive or sound absorbing. Because weighing is a non-contact method of measuring level, there is no chance of contamination. You never have to worry about a caustic ingredient damaging the weighing system.

Equipment

To weigh a storage vessel, it must be supported entirely by load points. For example, a silo would have a load point assembly under each leg. A frame is constructed to transfer the weight of a skirted silo to three or more load points (load cells and mounting hardware). Horizontal storage tank saddles are retrofitted with load points to accommodate vessel expansion and contraction with changes in temperature.

Calibration of Large Vessels Made Easy

Hardy's C2™, Second Generation Calibration eliminates costly scale calibration fees on large storage vessels. C2 allows you to electronically calibrate without test weights, even with material in your vessel.

Each C2 certified load point contains digital information detailing its unique performance characteristics. The C2 system uses these characteristics to electronically calibrate the scale. When power is applied, the weight controller automatically searches for C2 certified load points and saves the data to memory. A reference point is entered by the operator and the scale is fully calibrated. The reference point can be anywhere from zero ti the scale's capacity.

The C2 system consists of Hardy C2 certified load points, weight controllers, junction boxes and cabling to make scale calibration easier than ever before. The C2 system reduces downtime for installation and repairs, and eliminates test weight related injuries. In addition, it ends material substitution headaches, including contamination and waste disposal issues.

Data Security

Each Hardy weight controller includes a Secure Memory Module which automatically stores and protects critical data including calibration, setup and operating parameters. If the instrument ever needs replacement, the Secure Memory Module can be transferred to another weight controller and all critical data is restored, making your weighing system operational within minutes.

Instrumentation and Controls

Hardy's instrumentation ranges from blind transmitters to digital weight controllers. They can be connected to host computers or programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Total net weight can be viewed or transmitted. Bar graphs, lamps and other large indicators are often used for long distance viewing. In addition to level measurement, the electronics can also control the filling and dispensing of the storage vessel (seed our Filing & Dispensing Applications Brochure).
